The walls of historic Fort St Angelo, were lit up with a stunning light display
Malta - W-DMX by Wireless Solution Sweden once again helped pull off the impossible at Malta's 10 year anniversary celebration of joining the European Union. Malta's accession to the EU in May 2004 began a new chapter in the island's history and it was a common goal to make the anniversary a truly spectacular event.

The celebration would not have gone on as planned without Wireless Solution delivering a system setup of 8 W-DMX universes to span Malta's Grand Harbour to four points with up to 1000m distance - and all delivered within three days.

The main focal point, the walls of historic Fort St Angelo, were lit up with a stunning light display followed by a glittering array of fireworks that worked their magic over the Grand Harbour at midnight, all to the delight of thousands of spectators. Nearby Senglea Point and Villa Bighi served as additional backdrops for the audiovisual projections produced by W-DMX distributor Nexos and Co Ltd.

Lighting designer Ismael Portelli of Nexos specified a bright array of lighting for Fort St Angelo including 48 x Studio due city colour 2500, 135 x Clay Paky Sharpys, six Christie S+16K Projectors, two Panasonic PT EX16K Projectors and four Dataton Watchout Media Servers to complement the famous site, all through W-DMX WhiteBox controlled by an Avolites Tiger Touch 2. The show was triggered via SMPTE time code transmitted wirelessly via RF directional antennas.

The Villa Bighi site was donned with 18 x Griven Kolorado and 24 x Clay Paky Sharpys and the Isla site with 12 x Griven Kolorado and 18 x Clay Paky Sharpys. Desk operator and programmer was Anton Borg Olivier. All equipment was supplied and set up by Nexos.

Portelli explains, "Setup time was limited to 3 days so everything was pre programmed using Capture Polar Visualiser. With Wireless Solution W-DMX we had the peace of mind that all signal transmissions would work with no delay. Without W-DMX in the project we would have had to resize considerably to a much smaller setup. The show would not have been the same."

He continues, "The set up of W-DMX was extremely simple and in less than 5 minutes we tested all lines and could start working on tuning the show programming without having to lose precious time in configurations, etc. We also did not have any trouble after switching off and on again and all transmitters and receivers locked accordingly. Delivery and sales service were extremely efficient. All was available in stock and all was delivered in 3 days time. Also the post sales support was very helpful."

Niclas Arvidsson, CEO of Wireless Solution said, "We're always so proud to have W-DMX on such prestigious events such as Malta's 10 year anniversary with the EU - but especially proud to have the product implemented by our talented distributors like Nexos. We look forward to more exciting projects from them."
