UK / Germany - The forthcoming NSCA and Frankfurt exhibitions will be the first chance for British manufacturer XTA to show the world its flexible new offering for speaker system control. XTA's Guy Lewis says: "With hundreds of our 4 in, 8 out processors now driving audio systems worldwide, we are completing the family, and really giving every sound company and installer a flexible choice of how they structure their drive processing and speaker systems. If a 4 in, 8 out format is not perfect for your world, we can now offer either 2 or 4 inputs, with either 4, 6 or 8 outputs - plenty to choose from."

Lewis is referring to the new DP446, DP444, DP424 and the renamed DP448. "It does not matter if it is an LCR system, a two-way monitor rack, four-way front-of-house system or four-channel EQ front-end. Anyone can fit the processing to their way of working, without committing to unwanted ins or outs.

With a brand new AudioCore software control program, the 4-Series family provides terrific flexibility. "We have had requests from monitor guys who need to sling a rackpak over their shoulder and take as many graphic channels on the road in as little space as possible. With Audiocore on their tablet, and a couple of DP444s, they carry eight Graphic EQs in a 2U bag. All with simple wireless control from XTA's Walkabout Kit - just stand in front of a speaker and tweak away. Plus it all fits in an airplane overhead locker for those longer trips or when you just want to keep an eye on them."

The versatile filter set, built into all units, has been a major success for XTA and requests have poured in for a straight 4-in, 4-out solution, but coupled with the enormous 116d dynamic range of the new XTA DSP platform. "Having a vast choice of filter types helps shape sound beyond most of the problems encountered in difficult environments and venues," continues Lewis. "Tilting phase at particular problem frequencies, notching, adjusting Qs on a shelf, they are all in there and available, all the time."

"We closed 2005 with our best ever figures, so there are undoubtedly thousands of people who share our passion for sound quality and ease-of-use," continues Lewis. "With the flexibility of the new processing and new AudioCore, we will take speaker processing to a new level."
