Italy - Located a short distance from Venice, Italy, Nave de Vero is a new shopping centre which, like most modern malls, offers more than just retail outlets. Entertaining shoppers is an important part of its business, which is why it features a live performance area complete with high quality Yamaha digital audio system.

Situated in the municipality of Marghera, Nave de Vero is only a 15 minute drive from Venice and 30 minutes from the city of Padua. As well as 115 stores, it includes 15 dining outlets, most of which are concentrated around the first floor Piazza de Vero. The Piazza also features a stage and flown PA system, which are used for a wide variety of live entertainment.

Bologna-based Rokepo was chosen to supply the audio system, which includes a Yamaha CL3 digital mixing console and Rio3224-D i/o unit. The CL3 is fitted with an MY8AD24 interface for eight local an

UK - Liverpool technical production specialist Adlib is supplying the sound system and technicians for pop mega-star Enrique Iglesias' latest UK and European tour.

The multi-talented, multi-lingual and multi-award winning Enrique - who also enjoys a highly successful writing, record producing and acting career - as well as performing to an enormous fanbase worldwide - has sold over 100m albums and is dubbed 'King of Latin Pop' by Billboard. His meteoric international career kicked off in the mid-1990s after recording a demo tape as a supposedly unknown Guatemalan singer, not wanting to trade on the family name to get any breaks or opportunities

Adlib's history with Enrique is slightly more recent, dating back to the 2014 Capital FM Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium in June. Adlib supplied audio for the event, and the singer was amongst the star-studded line up. Enrique

The Netherlands - Recently launched to considerable acclaim, Genelec's new 8351 monitor will be making its European tradeshow debut at ISE 2015. Visitors to the Genelec Stand (3-C111) show will get the opportunity to hear this new monitor in action.

ISE 2015 will also be an opportunity for visitors to experience immersive sound in 3D format powered by Genelec. The company has a special 3D dedicated listening room on its stand and will once again be a key participant in the Immersive Sound Experience feature area at the show.

"It has been said that the 8351 is a paradigm shifting product," says Lars Olof-Janflod, marketing director at Genelec. "This is high praise and while it may be immodest of me, I would have to agree. I'd urge anyone interested in the future of audio to visit our stand, not only to hear the 8351 in action, but to also experience 3D audio as t

USA - Peter Pan Live!, NBC's live primetime television production of the classic Broadway musical, aired last week with audio support from Firehouse Productions and DPA Microphones. The live TV 'film,' which followed the success of the network's 2013 depiction of the Sound of Music, raked in over nine million viewers.

With a live show of this magnitude, Firehouse needed an audio solution that would provide pristine audio quality expected with HD television while still giving audiences the feel of a grand theater production. To accomplish this, the sound reinforcement company called on 48d:screet 4061 Miniature Microphones to support the entire cast, which included Christopher Walken as Captain Hook and Allison Williams as Peter Pan.

With each lead and principal actor double-miked, and a single mic on each member of the ensemble, DPA's d:screet 4061 was the exclus

USA - Home of the Carolina Panthers NFL football team, Bank of America Stadium has installed 30 steerable CAL column array loudspeakers from Meyer Sound to provide exceptional intelligibility for 37,000 fans in its upper deck area. The slender profile of CAL harmoniously blends in with flagpoles, solving an aesthetic challenge in distributed sound systems for sports venues. CAL will demonstrated live at the ISE trade show in Amsterdam in February 2015.

"The Panthers' stadium doesn't have a continuous lighting catwalk like other NFL stadiums, so there was no place to put the sizeable conventional speakers we would need to cover the upper level without having large clusters up on poles," says Mark Graham, the system designer and an associate of consultants Wrightson, Johnson, Haddon & Williams (WJHW). "Aesthetically, the clusters would have been a hard sell to the a

UK - The ShowDome at Our Dynamic Earth (ODE) in Edinburgh has been transformed with support from Electrosonic, which provided refurbishment and technical upgrades to one of Scotland's premier destination visitor attractions. In a two-phase project, Electrosonic has given the space a full-dome projection upgrade, a new theatre layout, 106 new seats, and a state-of-the-art server and content management system.

ODE showcases earth science by taking visitors on a journey through our planet's past, present and future through interactive exhibits and a stop in the 14m ShowDome theatre, which originally opened in 1999.

"The client came to us for our ideas and proposal, which we developed with them," says Electrosonic project manager Phil Downie. "The objectives were to upgrade the theatre to provide a higher-quality feel and experience for the audience, and to increase

UAE - Nicolas Kyvernitis Electronics Enterprises (NMK) has supplied Sound on Stage with a Midas console PRO2.

Sound on stage first launched its operations in Lebanon and in 2002 the company established its sister company in Dubai. Sound on stage proved its expertise in conducting major events in Dubai and the Middle East.

"After several years of using Midas consoles, starting from Venice 320 to Legend 3000 and H3000, we purchased PRO6 in 2009 which was later upgraded to PRO9. In order to complete our system we decided to purchase PRO2 console which can do monitor control and is the best to use in medium events because it can give a very high amount of inputs and outputs," commented Rawad Saad, owner of Sound on Stage.

UK - In December, indie rock luminaries Bombay Bicycle Club became the very last band to play London's Earl's Court venue, which is soon to be demolished. The band took to the stage as part of an epic world tour, which not only highlighted the success of their So Long, See You Tomorrow album but also allowed them to use DPA Microphones extensively on the road for the first time.

If delivering the last-ever gig at Earl's Court wasn't enough of an honour, Bombay Bicycle Club also happily accepted a special guest when Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour joined them on stage. Gilmour first played steel lap guitar on the band's song Rinse Me Down, before giving an emotional rendition of Wish You Were Here, backed by Bombay Bicycle Club. As with all of the performances that night - and during the entire tour - DPA microphones were on-hand to ensure audio quality.

UK - Woodworm Studios was established over 30 years ago as the private recording studio of folk legends Fairport Convention, a battered sign at the entrance still welcomes you to 'the Woodworm Hilton', the original name of the studio.

Situated in a converted chapel in the heart of the beautiful Oxfordshire Cotswolds, it was bought by recording engineer Stuart Jones in 2012 and renovated to high standards, and is now based around a Pro Tools HD system, a 24-channel Solid State Duality SE console and a surround array of PMC TB2S-A MkII speakers, with a pair of MB2 XBD-As serving as the main stereo reference monitors.

"I've had the TB2s for a while and have always been a PMC fan, hence the surround array," explains Jones. "I needed some high-quality large-scale reference monitors for Woodworm when I finished the renovations, but the nature of the room doesn't lend

France - Live sound engineer Verlaine Levis used to think that DPA microphones were only suited to classical music and never imagined that their microphones were also appropriate for pop rock tours. Since using a selection of DPA mics on the current Cats On Trees tour, Levis is the first to admit that his initial perception was entirely wrong.

"When DPA's French distributor Audio² gave me the opportunity to try the company's microphones with Cats On Trees, I was happy to accept the challenge," Levis says. "It didn't take long to discover that these great microphones have beefy pickups and are perfectly suited to rock and pop acts. We're now using three d:facto Vocal Microphones, as well as a d:dicate ST2011C Stereo Pair with 2011C Compact Cardioids and a number of d:vote 4099 Instrument Microphones for drums and violins."

The Netherlands - Opened in 2005, Amsterdam's Muziekgebouw aan't IJ is the Netherlands foremost venue for contemporary classical music. For the past nine years, the audio mixing requirements have been reliably taken care of by a Yamaha DM2000, but a recent technical refurbishment has seen it joined by a CL3 system.

Physically, Muziekgebouw aan't IJ's main auditorium, the Grote Zaal, is exceptionally flexible, featuring a ceiling, walls, floor and seating which are all moveable. These features make it an equally space for everything from intimate chamber music to full orchestras.

Acoustically the auditorium is extremely quiet so, when funding became available to upgrade the audio system, the venue's technical team needed a mixing system that was virtually silent in operation, as well as fulfilling all the technical requirements.

"At the beginning, we wrote down a list of

Turkey - HK Audio will increase its presence in Turkey significantly in 2015, after the German sound reinforcement firm signed an exclusive distribution deal with Yildirim Muzikhal.

The experienced Antalya-based distributor will be taking on the entire HK Audio product line-up - including the pro sound, install sound and MI ranges - in what is one of Europe's largest and fastest-growing pro audio markets from 1 January.

The relationship between the two companies began after HK Audio decided to make a strategic change of distributor in Turkey, and talks intensified when the two firms realized the vast opportunities working together could bring.

Florian Kunz, HK Audio's international market manager, said, "The decision to work together with Yildirim Muzikhal was taken after a comprehensive meeting in Antalya. Our future distribution partner has an outstanding history of p

USA - Symphony Centre, in Chicago's Loop district, is home to the Grammy Award-winning Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and historic Orchestra Hall. Although the CSO traditionally performs acoustically, when visiting jazz and pop artists stop by for shows using amplified music, the venue now has a new secret weapon - DiGiCo's SD9.

Installed by The Sound Co-Op LLC, the same sound reinforcement company that also provides Symphony Centre's sound system for amplified performances, the SD9 is called into service when visiting artists perform both with and without the CSO, such as on a recent show by Washington, D.C.-based a cappella group Sweet Honey in the Rock.

Symphony Centre's new SD9 console includes the Rack Pack Tour (RPT) package. This combination boasts 72 mic/line inputs (64 being on stage), digital snakes, redundant power supplies (in both console and stage racks), 48 Fl

Korea - Through the diligent work of their South Korean distributor, Marshall Pro Sound, Inc., Amadeus speakers are now the centrepiece of sound for the Korean Congress in the general assembly hall within the National Assembly Hall building, located in the heart of the country's capital of Seoul. During the past 10 years sound requirements for the entire The National Assembly building have been managed by Marshall Pro Sound, Inc.

Because of the general assembly hall's environment, the new system required both large hanging speakers and very compact yet high SPL speakers at the podiums. Marshall Pro Sound felt the Amadeus DIVA XS speakers were the solution for the main hall, and Amadeus PMX suited the personal monitoring needs at each podium. The 28-speaker install at the National Assembly Hall is one of the largest and most prestigious in Asia for Amadeus.

Europe - Superstar producer/singer-songwriter Pharrell Williams made extensive use of Shure wireless microphone and in-ear monitoring systems on his first-ever headlining concert tour this Autumn. The six-week Dear G I R L tour ran from September to October and took in major venues in Western and Central Europe, including the UK's O2 Arena.

Shure's Axient wireless microphones and PSM1000 in-ear monitoring systems, as used on the European dates, were sold by Shure Distribution UK, and supplied by Wigwam Acoustics in Heywood, Greater Manchester.

Pharrell's regular monitor engineer Jeremy Peters informally approached US-based RF engineer and stage and microphone tech Matthew Bock, of Nashville audio technology vendor Sound Image, early in 2014 for advice about which wireless systems to use on the live dates that were then being planned in support of Pharrell's successful G I R

Canada - Calgary's Epcor Centre is one of the most vibrant centres of the arts in western Canada, annually attracting over 600,000 people to around 960 events. This year the venue has invested in no less than six DiGiCo mixing consoles, the direct result of the positive experience with a single example installed in 2012.

Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts (then known as the Calgary Centre for Performing Arts) was officially opened in 1985 by Dr Martha Cohen, Sandra LeBlanc and Vera Swanson, three women who were instrumental in establishing and raising funds for the facility. It is housed within two historic buildings - the Burns Building, constructed in 1917, and the 1931-built Calgary Public Building.

Covering six floors and over 400,000ft2 (nearly 37,200m2), it is one of the three largest performing arts centres in Canada and features seven performance spaces, five of whic

UK - Rapper Professor Green hit the road in November and December to promote his latest album, Growing Up In Public, culminating in a sold-out show at the London Roundhouse. A Yamaha CL5 digital mixing system helped front of house engineer Neal Allen to make Waves with the mix.

"As this was primarily an Academy tour, which all have in-house consoles. I wanted a desk with footprint that would cause the least problems, whilst maintaining the sound and functions I was after," says Neal. "I had used a CL5 with Professor Green on the Music Cube shows we recently did at London's Westfield shopping centres and really liked the sound, especially when using the Premium Rack compressors.

"I needed to purchase a console which would drop into the Dante network for the stage and in-ear monitors package that we'll be using on the summer festivals we are playing in

Entec's ability to supply all the technical elements from one source made co-ordination easy for the client as well as enabling a high quality yet cost-effective technical production solution which looked and sounded great.

Entec invited Simon Tutchener to join in the hilarity and create a lighting scheme for the evening. "It was a great show for a worthwhile cause and I tho

USA - Jack Calmes, the founder of Showco and Syncrolite, has died at the age of 71. One of the concert production industry's true pioneers, Calmes was also a musician, promoter, live music venue owner, artist manager and film and television producer.

In the mid-60s, Calmes and friend Angus Wynne co-founded Showco in Dallas, Texas, and set about putting on music shows. Among their early successes was a University party in Dallas headlined by Chuck Berry. Showco also brought The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin and the Doors to Dallas. In 1967 Calmes and Wynne opened a Dallas music venue, Soul City, played by stars such as Stevie Wonder, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Ike and Tina Turner and Jerry Lee Lewis.

The pair sold their interest in the venue the following year and concentrated on Showco, promoting the Texas International Pop Festival in 1969. Despite a good

UK - Greg Walsh, sound design and front of house mixing engineer, chose a selection of DPA microphones to capture the sound of Kate Bush's successful Before the Dawn series of concerts at London's Hammersmith Apollo.

After 35 years away from the live stage, these much anticipated concerts received high praise from reviewers and fans who frequently commented on the exceptional audio quality and the clarity of Kate's vocals.

The decision to use DPA microphones was made following extensive testing by Greg Walsh and the production team, which included renowned audio engineer Stephen Taylor who was responsible for Kate's vocal processing and monitor engineer Ian Newton, who sadly passed away earlier this month.

"I knew about DPA, having originally discovered Bruel and Kjaer [DPA's predecessor] in the mid-1980s," Walsh says. "The larger capsule microphones su
